Lawrence Again Registers State’s Highest Unemployment Rate
Lawrence County has again garnered the dubious distinction of topping the state’s unemployment list.
State unemployment figures were released last week through the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Williamson County registered the lowest unemployment rate at 2.8 percent, while Lawrence registered the highest at 7.5 percent.
Even though Lawrence’s April rate remains the highest, the local rate did decrease by a full percentage point, down from 8.5 percent in March.
Neighboring counties faired better. Maury County registered a rate of 5.0 percent, while the Giles County rate came in at 7.2 percent.
